The woman in the picture bears an uncanny resemblance to Joan Collins. However I have no recollection at all of where the subject matter for this picture came from. I like working from photographs I see in papers and magazines and so could very well have been of Joan....
This is a simple sketch of the medium Doris Stokes. It was drawn sometime around 1989, close to her death. The idea of the sketch is to only draw in the parts that would be illuminated in a darkened room by a lit crystal ball in the centre. Study probably taken from a photograph in the newspaper.
This sketch is of Mazarine Pingeot at the funeral or her father, Francois Mitterand. Mazarine was illegitimate and caused much outcry when Mitterand confirmed she was his daughter. Again taken from a photograph in the newspapers coverage of the funeral.
A very atmospheric piece. Again painted sometime around 1988/1989 which were my two main productive years for painting and drawing. I can't recollect where the study came from, may well have been an imagined image.
